Zinita was built as a regatta 12 Meter yacht in 1927 on the yard of the famous Wiliam Fife for Arthur C. Connel. Up to 1995 Zinita has known a lot of owners, mostly in Scandinavia. Finally she was sold to Leo Aarens and Konrad Meier to be restorated to her fromer glory.
The yacht was in a very bad state and had to undergo a thorough restoration. For the present owners we have designed a new deck- and sailplan as well as a new interior. Starting point was that the boat could be sailed with a small crew, but be able to sail regatta’s. We also designed a small superstructure to create headroom. Originally Zinita had no standing headroom.
Zinita now has an owners cabin and a guest cabin. For the crew there is a separate cabin forward. In the salon 4 convertible berths have been created for the regatta crew.
Zinita was present at the America’s Cup Jubilee Regatta as one of the oldest 12M yachts.
