A rescuetender is a rescueboat that is also being used as a tender. The tenders do the transport of guests between the large cruising ships and the shore. The rescuetender has to be approved according to the most stringent rules that apply to rescueboats. One of the tests is the droptest as shown on thse pictures here.

This rescuetender has a capacity for 120 persons as a tender and 150 persons as a rescueboat. The speed loaded with 120 persons is 12 knots and empty 18 knots.

To ensure that the ship fulfilled al demands an elaborate modeltesting program has been carried out. Testing included: resistance, propulsion, manouvring and droptest.

This design was made for the renowned Mulder & Rijke from IJmuiden in Holland. The first 6 rescuetenders were delivered to the Holland Amerika Line for the cruiseship “ZUIDERDAM” as can be seen on the picture above.
